Mission
Partner obediently with the Holy Spirit to make disciples of Jesus.
Vision
Every one set free by Christ and fulfilling their potential for God's Kingdom.
Core Values
Jesus Christ as the only mediator between God and man, the only one who can "truly speak to thy condition."
Trusting the Holy Spirit to transform believers from the inside out.
The authority of the Bible as an infallible and preserved revelation from God, and its usefulness for everyday life.
The necessity of obedience to Christ in repentance and discipleship.
Every individual as uniquely created and loved by God.
Going the “second mile” in service to each other and our community.
Maintaining a safe place for honesty, confession, and growth without shame. Offering love, compassion, forgiveness, and encouragement as Christ offers us.
The regular “coming together” of believers to worship, pray, and build up the church through the sharing of their spiritual gifts.
A congregational church structure with servant leadership and accountability.
Our Friends heritage as a launching point for future ministry.
Ecumenical cooperation with the one, universal church.
Our Ministries
Though we are small country church, we pride ourselves on being family-friendly. We offer weekly Christian education for all ages, many annual children's programs, nursery facilities, online streaming, a Trail Life troop ministry, a homeschool cooperative, Forge Fellowship Mens Ministry, The Well outreach, and more. We are always looking for ways to serve our families, providing tools for them to successfully disciple their own children.
Our 9:30 AM Sunday School hour includes nursery (through age 3), preschool, elementary, intermediate/middle school, and two adult classes. Each one is designed especially for the developmental and spiritual needs of the group. One adult class follows a quarterly booklet that methodically covers the Bible and the other offers topical studies. In the latter, we have covered parenting, evangelism, prayer, grace, and much more.
However, there is no doubt that our 10:30 AM Sunday Worship Service is our greatest ministry. It features our excellent praise band and biblical preaching every week.

Anticipating your questions
What are your office hours/Can I meet with the pastor?
The Pastor is the only staff person and he's a busy guy. He keeps no regular office hours anymore, but he would love to connect with you by appointment! Email pastor@mtcarmelfriends.com.
What are Mt. Carmel Friends' doctrines/Are you part of a denomination?
We are proud members of the Evangelical Friends Church--Eastern Region. Our Faith and Practice document detailing our doctrines is available on their website: www.efcer.org
Does Mt. Carmel support missions work?
Yes! We partner with the Evangelical Friends Church--Eastern Region and Evangelical Friends Mission to support missionaries in dozens of countries. In recent years we have been blessed to be able to give 10% of our church budget to domestic and global missions. We also support missions in many other ways, as opportunities arise. Click for more information about EFM, our missionary sending agency.

What should I expect when I visit?
Expect to be warmly greeted--we love visitors! Our services are casual. You do not have to dress up or wear anything in particular. We sing hymns and contemporary praise songs, hear a sermon preached out of God's Word, occasionally receive communion, and usually have a period of "open worship." During open worship, congregation members can share what they have learned from God recently--but nobody is expected to contribute. We believe those led by the Spirit to do so will speak or sing or whatever is given to them.
Does the Church operate the cemetery across the street?
No. We have not been in control of the cemetery for some time. If you need to deal with the cemetery, then you'll want to talk to the Wayne Township (Champaign County) Trustees. Call Susan, the cemetery Clerk: (937) 925-3474.
